You can now buy Fossil Gen 6 watches running the Wear OS version you don’t want

At least you get Google Assistant

Fossil announced its Gen 6 smartwatches featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset in late August. Almost a month later, smartwatches are now on sale around the world. The Gen 6 smartwatch line-up represents a major leap from Fossil’s previous smartwatches, mainly due to the move to a newer chipset. Along with better performance and longer battery life, the Fossil Gen 6 supports 0-80% fast charging in just 30 minutes. The other hardware provided inside the laptop includes a 1.28 inch circular display, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, a heart rate scanner, and an Sp02 sensor. The biggest letdown with Gen 6 watches is their OS – they continue to run Wear OS 2.0. Smartwatches are “eligible” for the Wear OS 3 update, but that’s only going to drop in the second half of 2022 at the earliest. 6 in the United States for $ 299 and $ 319. In Europe and the UK, the watches are available for € 299-329 and £ 279-299, respectively. In India, the price starts from Rs 23,995. If you are not a fan of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch is worth a visit, provided you are willing to tolerate the use of Wear OS 2 for about six months. On the bright side, you can at least use Google Assistant on the Gen 6 smartwatches, which the Galaxy Watch 4 currently lacks. To buy: Fossil, Amazon
