Thirty suspects have been arrested for allegedly making and selling fake Fossil watches and other top brands, Shanghai police said on Wednesday.
Brands violated include Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, Diesel and Fossil, among others, police said.
The suspects have reportedly earned more than 18 million yuan ($ 2.8 million) selling the fake watches on the internet since 2018.
Putuo District Police opened their investigation in late April after several people reported purchasing fake Fossil watches from a website.
Police quickly located the three operators behind the Internet store in southern Guangdong Province.
The three men are said to have massively bought the fake watches produced at an underground factory in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Some of the fakes were sold over the internet at market prices of their genuine counterparts, while the rest were sold at a discount, police said.
The suspects were recently arrested in Guangdong and Guangxi by police, and over 4,000 fake Fossil watches were seized from them.
Six of the suspects have been arrested, while the rest are placed under restrictive measures by the police.
